Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Career Coach / Junior Career Navigator to join an innovative workforce development initiative. Working under general supervision, this role will provide individualized and group career coaching to middle school students, helping them explore workforce pathways, set career goals, and build a foundation for post-secondary success. The position also supports students in grades 10–12 who are not demonstrating college and career readiness.
This position blends direct service, program development, collaboration, and data-informed decision-making. You’ll work closely with school staff, community partners, and career navigators to bring engaging career exploration opportunities to life.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver individual and group career development support for students in grades 6–8.
Design and lead classroom-based lessons and virtual sessions using platforms like Xello and other LMS tools.
Implement career exploration activities including field trips, guest speakers, job shadowing, and career days.
Administer and interpret career interest surveys and guide students through planning their career pathways.
Serve as a liaison with school staff and feeder elementary schools to support career development efforts.
Support implementation of school-based summer camps focused on career readiness.
Organize and facilitate School Stakeholder Committee meetings to support programming efforts.
Provide outreach to families, school staff, and the community to promote engagement and participation.
Collect participation data, assist with transportation logistics, and track procurement requests.
Use various tools (Excel, Qualtrics, Xello) to enter and analyze program data.
Qualifications:
Minimum:
Associate degree or higher (or 15+ college credits in education, social work, or counseling-related field)
1–2 years of experience working with youth in career coaching, case management, or similar role
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in education, counseling, youth development, or social work
3–7 years of experience in an educational or youth-focused career development setting
Bilingual skills highly desirable
Key Skills & Competencies:
Strong communication skills with diverse youth and adult audiences
Experience with career development tools, assessments, and instructional strategies
Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
Familiarity with current labor market trends and workforce pathways
Skilled in public speaking, data entry, and Microsoft Office Suite
Organized, reliable, and committed to helping students explore their full potential
Additional Requirements:
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Ability to pass a background check for work with minors
Willingness to travel to multiple school and community sites
Occasional evening or weekend hours required for events
Salary: $30.00 – $40.00 per hour
Job Type: 34 hours/week (Monday–Friday, with occasional evenings/weekends)
Location: Multiple middle schools and partner sites across Baltimore County
