HR and Benefits Coordinator Location Leavenworth, KS :

This position is located at 400 S 4th Street Atchison, KS 66002 and requires the individual to to be onsite.

The HR & Benefits Coordinator will play a crucial role in supporting various HR functions within the scope of the position, and at the direction of the HR Manager with safety as a priority. Functions include benefits administration, leave management, policy administration, employment law compliance, new hire orientation, disciplinary tracking, employee database management, employee support, workers compensation, layoff support, and general HR administrative support. This position requires excellent organizational skills, a strong understanding of HR processes, and the ability to maintain confidentiality and compliance.

Primary Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Coordinate and administer new hire orientation and presentations.
  • Provide new/re-hire packets and assist with orientation presentations
  • Organize HR onboarding for successful candidates and provide necessary information to safety for them to complete onboarding
  • Organize pre-employment medicals and other employment checks (e.g., criminal history for hourly and salary recruitment)
  • Participate in and help coordinate job fairs for locations when/if required
  • Assist with drafting offer letters for hourly and salary recruitment and provide to HR Manager before issuing to hiring manager as needed
  • Ensure new starter information is completed and sent to payroll for processing
  • Provide badge to new employees on commencement for Kronos
  • Complete E-Verify and I-9 documents
  • Coordinate and administer employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, and retirement, pension, and annual open enrolment.
  • Provide benefits support to employees and assist with benefit-related inquiries and problem resolution.
  • Administer and track employee leaves of absence, including workers compensation.
  • Collaborate with employees and managers to facilitate smooth return-to-work processes.
  • Maintain accurate records of leave balances and usage.
  • Support the development, communication, and enforcement of HR policies and procedures.
  • Update and maintain the employee handbook at the direction of the HR Manager.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and legal regulations.
  • Create end-of-month and weekly reports including turnover statistics, employee rosters, job fulfillment statistics, FMLA leave calculations, disciplinary actions, and others as assigned.
  • Manage STD and LTD with employee paperwork and provide documents to insurer.
  • Prepare disciplinary or termination letters for employees as requested. Letters are to be reviewed by HR Manager prior to being issued.
  • Champion other projects and goals as established by the HR Manager including wellness initiatives, employee activities, and additional items as they arise.
  • Greet guests, answer phones, responding to requests by employees and external sources for information.
  • Meet with employees who have complaints or questions, act promptly and appropriately and if necessary, direct them to the HR Manager to assess and address their concerns or complaints.
  • Understanding of local site collective bargaining agreements and the ability to apply rules and/or questions when needed.
  • Other duties as requested or assigned.

Key Selection Criteria

Qualifications:· BA/BS in Human Resources or equivalent experience· 2+ years of experience in Human Resources required.· Prefer PHR Certification.

Experience:· Benefits administration experience· Experience with Microsoft Office suite· Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.

Skills and Knowledge:· Ability to maintain confidentiality.· Work within established company policies and procedures· Work is sequenced and open to change to ensure continuous improvement.· Excellent attention to detail and strong problem solving and analytical skills.· Ability to handle multiple tasks and frequent deadlines.· Strong work ethic and organizational, administrative support skills.· Strong interpersonal and communication skills.· Proficiency in HRIS and MS Office Suite.· High energy and positive attitude with ability to provide exceptional m customer service is a must.
