JOB SUMMARY:

The Business Developer is responsible for driving sales efforts within an assigned territory, serving as a liaison between the construction operations team and prospective clients. This role involves generating leads, identifying new business opportunities, and pursuing customers to secure bids on construction projects. Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining a sales funnel, collaborating with estimating teams, preparing bid proposals, and negotiating and processing contracts. The Business Developer plays a vital role in expanding the company's client base and contributing to the growth of construction project opportunities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Construction Management, or Horticulture Experience At least 5 years related work experience At least 3 years B2B sales experience License or Certification As required by state and federal law Valid driver license issued by the state where employed Specialized Skills Strong internal and external customer service Ability to work variable hours, including evenings and weekends, and to travel extensively within assigned territory Excellent oral and written communication, including advanced presentation skills in front of large groups Organizational skills with ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines Intermediate understanding of CRM software Intermediate understanding of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions Ability to analyze and interpret business periodicals Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, and/or schedule format Ability to read, write, and comprehend English

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Interface with Operations management to develop, present, and negotiate the recommended portfolio of services to ensure profitability and customer satisfaction Manage opportunities through client database to provide visibility of sales efforts to management Develop contacts and prospects to ensure long-term profitability for Jensen and its customers through cold-calling, market research, and internal lead development Generate job estimates/bid proposals, including scope of work, accurate site boundaries and measurements, and estimate of labor and materials in cooperation with operations Reply to client Requests for Proposal (RFPs) in a timely and professional manner Meet or exceed established annual sales targets Attend RFP pre-bid meetings and proposal presentations Maintain relationships with key clients to seek out and take advantage of opportunities for networking and additional sales generation Attend staff and sales meetings to assess business opportunities and ensure mutual understanding of Monarchs strategic focus Facilitate contact with existing and potential clients via trade shows, association events, and meetings Ensure a smooth transition from contract signing to contract fulfillment by facilitating introductory meeting and site walk-through between client and operations Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
